EMEL Removals tips for moving home Ipswich, Suffolk or nationwide
You'll be surprised how much time and effort moving can take. Even with our experts on hand, getting ready for your move will always take longer than you think. With this in mind, why don’t you check out our tips below – if you follow our handy advice, we can assure you that the whole process will go more smoothly.
Change of addresses is a good one to prepare for. Gas/electric/insurances etc. Make a list of number s to call in preparation for your move.
MOST IMPORTANTLY OF ALL---RESEARCH ALL OF YOUR POTENTIAL MOVERS!!
-CHECK TO SEE THAT THEY HAVE THE CORRECT INSURANCES
-CHECK THEIR ONLINE REVIEWS NOT JUST THEIR TESTIMONIALS
-A FEW HOURS RESEARCH CAN POTENTIALLY SAVE YOU!
Preparation and planning are essential components of a successful, cost-effective move. Before you get your home move under way why not consider a trip to the local recycling centre or perhaps a car boot sale? It is very easy to underestimate the time involved when moving home and the last thing you need is to be taking old paint tins, unwanted kids toys or the forgotten contents of a shed or loft with you to your new home.
You may like the thought of packing yourself but we do offer a full packing service if required.
If you do decide to pack your own belongings then please mark the boxes with a rough list of content and note the rooms that they belong to. This way we can place all boxes into their correct location and it will make it much easier for yourselves if you need a certain item in a hurry. If you take advantage of our full packing service we will of course do all of this for you.
Please feel free to enquire about any of our services.
Make sure you pack your belongings properly and label each box clearly. Pack your books and other heavy objects in small boxes so that they're easier to handle. It is never too early to begin preparing for your move so perhaps make a start by packing all items that are not essential.
When it comes to handling boxes etc please take care of yourself! Squat without bending over, and use your legs to lift any heavy objects. Don't forget to dismantle any larger items of furniture so that they'll fit easily through doors or tight areas.
Keep a box or two to one side so that you can keep with you in the car or somewhere that makes them easily accesable. Use these boxes to pack any essentials that you might need such as phone chargers, medications, school clothes for the children for the next day, food or drink for while we wait to get you in to your new home. This can also be a great place to pack the most important of all items........THE KETTLE. But on a serious note these boxes can potentially be very helpful on the day of the move.
Make sure that you keep items such as passports, driving licenses, jewellery and cash with you.
Make a list of all of your suppliers....electricity, water, insurance, docters and schools etc to inform them of your change of address. Also take any meter readings and note all utility bills. It is also an idea to supply your local post office with your new address.
We are a generation of some marvelous devices but unfortunately a lot of these devices rely on battery power. It will be a potentially busy day so a good bit of advice would be to charge your phone prior to our arrival.
Defrost the fridge and freezer prior to the move.
These steps will reduce the time it takes our movers to load and unload your belongings, and they will help you save money on your move.
